Welcome back to another week of Blogging Through the Alphabet! I am glad that you are here with me, Kirsten from DoodleMom’s Homeschooling Life and DaLynn from Biblical Womanhood. We are excited to see what you have to share for the letter C this week!
I love sharing with you about the books we love, those we use on a daily basis in our homeschool and those we read just for fun! This week I want to share with you about Curious George. This little monkey has been with us for many years, even before we started homeschooling. There are many things that we can learn from him.
We own many of the Curious George books and our library also has a great selection. We can find a story that will match whatever is happening each week, no matter what that is. My favorite part, our library has The Complete Adventures of Curious George! This book contains the first seven books of Curious George. These are the ones we love the most, the ones we read numerous times!
We have even found some great printables to use with the younger kids that go along with these books. These help to bring the learning out of the book and into their hands. We have so much fun with these, and the kids ask for me to find some when we start a new book.
With Halloween coming up, we checked out Curious George Goes to a Costume Party. George finds himself at a Halloween costume party. This book shows us how a curious monkey can find trouble and fun at a Halloween party.
I found a new Curious George at my library. This, Curious George Discovers the Senses was a book that took us to science class, in a book, with a monkey! Not only do we get the regular George story, but we also get an insight into the senses. As George goes through his adventure, the sides of the pages discuss the senses that are being used along with some other fun facts. Not only can we discover the senses with George, but also the ocean, the sun, germs, the rainbow and space. These books make me really like George that much more. He brings us fun ways to learn with him!
Another fun Curious George book that we have found was the Look-and-Find book at our library! This book helped us to have fun in a new way with Curious George. Little Miss at 6 found this book easy, but Baby Girl at almost 3 had a blast with this. We were able to work on our searching skills and I loved watching her little mind try to find the simple pictures within the big picture! Look-and-Finds are my favorite type of book!
Do you like to read about the curious monkey with your kids? Do you have a favorite one?
