How do you work with your younger children and their colors, or fine motor skills? How do you allow them to be creative and build? Baby Girl had the chance to play with the Haba Palette of Pegs from the Tiny Tots 2017 Timberdoodle Curriculum Kit and boy did we have fun!
This was one of those items that I never thought we needed until we had it. Baby Girl has not stopped playing with it and loves to use it in many different ways. There is no right or wrong way to have fun when it comes to the Haba Palette of Pegs!
The Palette of Pegs includes 16 pegs, and 16 rings along with the pegging board. Two of each of the pegs and rings are of the same color, making that 8 different colors on the set. These pegs and rings can be used in a variety of ways from matching to patterns, this is just the beginning of the fun!
We had no set plan when it came to this set. We decided that we would follow Baby Girl’s lead when she pulled these out, and we had a lot of fun with that plan. Whenever she pulled out the box, we would play and try different things. We learned that she knew how to match and we had fun setting up different patterns. Like the blue on yellow and yellow on blue. This one took a few tries, but Baby Girl got the hang of this pattern and loved playing along!
Now, these pegs and rings are so much more than just matching colors or making patterns, they can be built up as well! We had fun seeing how many we could stack on top of one another before they fell down! This meant that we had to have the rings placed right to stack the pegs up as high as we could. This was a fun stacking game and the making sure that we had the right amount of support gave Baby Girl an idea of building even though she is only 2 years old!
Like I said earlier, this is an item that I didn’t know we really needed until we had it. If I was just wondering through a store, I would probably pass this up. I would regret it now that I know just what it can do! Baby Girl has spent so much more time on this than the iPad or any of her other toys lately. She loves the stacking and matching. And the fact that this can be used in so many ways makes it that much more fun for her!
This is a toy that we are playing with daily. This is something that can teach in so many ways, heck even the big kids love playing with this at times. Little Miss (6) loves finding new patterns with the colors and Ray Ray (9) loves to figure out how high he can stack them before they are too unstable.
If you are looking for a good item to add to your household that will add fun and learning for years to come, I recommend that you grab this Palette of Pegs and see where it takes you and your kids!
