Online Unit Studies with Techie Homeschool Mom – A Homeschool Crew Review

I have always loved exploring the way my children learn. Each of the four learns in a different way. This makes it fun, and hard for me. Thankfully Ray Ray can do Unit Studies with Techie Homeschool Mom and I don’t have to worry about him. Currently, he is working his way through the Famous Artists Online Unit Study (Vol. 1).

What Is It?

Techie Homeschool Mom is an online program that gives you access to unit studies. They have a variety of studies available. While they are fully online for learning, there are many things that take the learning to different levels. You and your child will use different online programs (the free versions) and some other items from around the house.

Techie Homeschool Mom offers a variety of unit studies that will appeal to your child. Some take an hour, others take longer. But each is set up in the same way. The lessons are all online and are easy to follow.

Famous Artists is one of the longer studies that will take more than one day to complete. It is broken up into different sections. You will first learn about art itself and follow up with some of the famous artists like DaVinci, Monet, and Picasso.

As you go through each artist, you will learn about them, their pieces of artwork, and you will finish up with adding them to your own exhibit using Emaze. This was the fun part!

How We Used It

Ray Ray loves to take my laptop and disappear to do his schoolwork. This is not a fear of mine when he is working on his unit study from Techie Homeschool Mom. The units are laid out in step-by-step directions. He completes one and moves on to the next.

When it came time for Ray Ray to study art, I wouldn’t see much of him. He would get comfy someplace in the house and work through his lesson. The program shows me what is done and what needs to be done. I had a list from the beginning of what supplies we would need, so I was able to make sure we had them on hand. This meant that I wasn’t saying ‘We will come back to this when we have the supplies.” Or “We can’t do that right now.” Those are always huge setbacks for us.

There are about 5 sections per artist and 10 artists in this collection. We would do one section a day, completing an artist per week on average. This means that this collection would last for 10 weeks. Each day varied on how long it took, depending on the video or how much Ray Ray would write or design, but they didn’t last so long that he lost interest. Every Friday was the day that Ray Ray would work on Emaze exhibits.

What We Thought of It

We love Techie Homeschool Mom and her unit studies! While the majority is online, the platform she uses is not hard to understand. I liked that you complete one thing and move on to the next. I loved that she brought in other online elements to enrich our learning. These were the free versions, so I didn’t have to worry about purchasing something, yet I was able to allow my son to use new technology in his learning, bonus!

The lessons are not too long. And we can stop and start up as we need to. This is great for us. If a lesson gets too long, Ray Ray can pause, if needed. This didn’t happen much, as he was having fun playing with all the technology that is introduced to him. Being a “techie kid” meant that he loved the way Techie Homeschool Mom allowed him to express himself in the unit study.

We have used other unit studies from Techie Homeschool Mom and loved them as well. Ray Ray loved the one on Martin Luther King Jr. In that, he made his first picture graphic using a quote. This was great to see him think of ideas and make them come alive.

If you have a techie child at home who loves unit studies, I would recommend that you check out what Techie Homeschool Mom has to offer.

We were not the only ones to check out Techie Homeschool Mom. Head on over to The Homeschool Review Crew and see what everyone else thought!

This is the course that he would do 100 times and never get bored with it! Not only that, but we have access to both Drive Thru History: American History and Drive Thru History: Ancient History. I am able to easily allow Moe Man to find the videos that match what he is currently studying in his history class and watching the video to help supplement it! World Book

This has been a well-loved addition to SchoolhouseTeachers.com! I love being able to have this resource on hand when the kids need it. Not only that, but they are able to use it as their lesson, not just as a resource. Being able to access this has helped everyone in the house, even mom!

Writing on This Day in History

This is a great way to add some writing into your history lessons. There are 4-5 different writing prompts for each day, that are broken down by 7-day periods. Each of those prompts covers a different time period and gives your child just enough to get them interested. This is a great way to learn history and work on writing at the same time!

Preschool Playground

There are so many subtopics in this area…Arts and Crafts, Language, Motor Skills, Social Skills, and Math Skills. There are so many things that are there for preschool, that you don’t need to look anywhere else! Knowing that I can give Baby Girl some school as well as Moe Man from the same site, makes it something that I love!

I love finding things that we can do as a family. This is one of them! I want to make sure that we keep ourselves active, and I have found I need more motivation in this area lately. This course is led by Bethany Learn from Fit2Be Studio. This is a site I have fallen in love with. MarshMedia – A Homeschool Crew Review

Every child loves to be able to take a break from the reading, writing and math some days. No matter how much they act like they enjoy it, or really do enjoy it, they still need a break. What if that break could include a video? MarshMedia has a library full of videos that cover puberty, hygiene, health, and safety which are now available to homeschoolers with their Homeschool Special.

Health Videos for kids

MarshMedia has been providing these quality videos to schools and finding things like this for the homeschool community can sometimes be tough and time consuming. This Homeschool Special gives you 59 of their videos all in one place for one price. There is no more need to spend your time looking all over for them and paying who knows what for the ones you really want.

I decided to use these videos as part of our health units. While we have a set curriculum for the basic subjects, when it comes to the extras like health, I like to plan little unit studies to learn about different things at different times. Adding videos into the studies is a no-brainer.

Health Videos for kids

Ray Ray is growing. He is no longer my "little" boy. In fact, he is busy growing faster than I would like to admit. Spending some time looking through the video library allowed me to find some that would be perfect in teaching him the beginning stages of puberty and what he is going through. Meet the New You – Boys is geared for grades 3-5 and is a great introduction into puberty.

Yes, I said that word, puberty. And yes, I said we used a video that was made with schools in mind. But no, it is not like the horror stories that you would hear about from social media and what kids are learning about puberty in school. While I have not watched all the videos yet, those that I have watched have met my Christian standards when it comes to teaching my kids. I think you will feel the same way. Of course, I still pre-watch them before allowing the kids to go at it.

Another video that I jumped at the chance to watch was Take Care of Your Teeth. This video is geared towards K-3 grades, but I would say more of the lower grades as Ray Ray felt it was kind of silly. This was a great way to talk with the kids about the importance of taking care of your teeth in a fun way. Little Miss really loved the silly Annie Funelli, and this was perfect to grab her attention to what was being taught.

Health Videos for kids

Now, we have a little problem in our house, the kids don't always wash their hands. And if they do, they don't do it the correct way. Now I could sit in the bathroom and lecture them every time about how to wash their hands correctly, or we could a fun little study on it and use a video. Wash Your Hands is geared towards grades K-5, and this one is great for all those grades. It does not talk down to the students and does not use too big of words for the younger ones. Just the facts in a fun way.

Health Videos for kids

The videos that we spent time watching range from 10-20 minutes, so they don't take much time. Each one is filled with valuable information and is geared towards the different ages. These ages are listed for each video and having those helped me pick out the videos I would want to look at further and those to wait on for now.

I am happy with the videos that we have had the time to watch so far. They are fun and full of information. They draw the kids in and make them want to watch them. In my house, and I am sure yours, this is a plus! I look forward to using more of these videos soon for some more of our health lessons.

MarshMedia has been focused on schools, and the homeschool community is their new venture. I am glad they have decided to let us have access to these videos. They are perfect for what we need them for. Since they are just starting out in the homeschool community, please be patient when you go to the page for homeschoolers. It may take a moment or two to load, but it will be there! K5 Learning – A Homeschool Crew Review

online reading and math

My kids love to play on computer. They love to have access to games and anything they think is fun. So, I love when I can find an online program like K5 Learning to allow them to have fun while they are still learning!

online reading and math

K5 learning is an online learning program for K-5 with the focus on Math and Reading, and a little Spelling also. There is no need for extra textbooks, no extra space to take up. All you need is your computer and an internet connection.

While the kids had a lot of fun using K5 Learning, this is not the typical game style learning site. K5 Learning focuses on teaching children great study skills and how to work on their own. These are two very important skills I want my kids to know when it comes to school.

online math and reading program

The use of K5 Learning is very simple. You set up your account, add an account for each student, with their own login information and send them on their way. The first thing they will do is take an assessment test for both reading and math. These are separate and do take a little bit of time, but they are needed to place your child in the right level.

online program

Once the assessment is over, your child is free to go. Each lesson plan is personalized for each child. There is no one size fits all here. The site is safe for the children to use, there are no ads and no links to anything outside of K5 Learning. This made me happy knowing that the kids could be on the site while I was busy helping someone else, and that they would only be working on quality lessons and not surfing the web getting into trouble!

online math and reading program

There was not too much for me to do when it came to this program. After I set the kids up, I would log in once or twice a week and see their progress, but that was about it. I did take the chance to print a few worksheets that are available to go with the lessons they are learning, but that was it!

Both Ray Ray and Little Miss love to do their K5 Learning Lessons. They had the choice to work on their math or reading or both each day. I loved how each subject covered many topics and didn't get boring for the kids. They would work on things like sight words or reading comprehension for reading, and math was not only numbers and adding or subtracting, but also geometry and time and money. Ray Ray has also tried out the spelling features. He enjoyed that there were many learning styles when it came to this. It wasn't just a listen and type, but rather have fun and learn.

online math and reading program

Both of my kids love the way this is set up. All I hear all day is "Can I do my K5 school yet?" "Is it time for K5 school yet?" I love that they love it and I love that I notice an improvement in both of them, specifically Little Miss and her reading skills. One week she is struggling to sound out words and the next she is sounding them out just fine. The only difference? K5 Learning!

online math and reading program

If you have a busy workload, like 4 kids and a husband recovering from surgery, K5 Learning will help you make sure your kids still learn what they need learn, as independently as possible. Yes, I still give them regular math and reading lessons, but knowing that on days when I may be lacking they won't be, that is what is important to me!

Art Lessons for Kids from Art Achieve ~ A Homeschool Crew Review

Art is something I have never been good at. Yes, I love looking at it. And I find it peaceful to watch others create art, but to actually do it, or therefore teach it to my kids, yeah not so peaceful. I am always on the lookout art lessons for kids that are fun. We fell in love with Level I of ArtAchieve last year, and this year we got to continue with the Entire Level II.

ArtAchieve is an online art class for kids. It is broken down into 5 different levels, each containing 10 or more lessons. These lessons include everything; besides the materials, you need to teach the lesson. Or should I say have the lessons taught for you. Each lesson page on the website includes numerous ideas to make these art lessons cross-curricular. These ideas cover the subjects such as Social Studies, Science, Writing, Literature/Geography as well as Art. This project page will also give you the list of supplies you will need and approximate class time.

art lessons for kids

I would take the information for this page and plan a week-long study on each lesson. This was easy enough to do and made a great learning experience finished up with the fun of making of the official art project at the end of the week. Our week would start with an introduction to the topic at hand. We would watch the introduction on the video or read through it on the Power Point version and get an idea of what we were going to be learning.

drawing lessons for kids

We would take the Cross-Curricular Connections given to use and use a few of them. Whether we were learning about the geography of the area that the project originated from or reading some books from that area/era, it was fun to learn more. This gave us a whole new feeling and meaning to our finished projects at the end of the week.

The beginning of each Power Point lesson gives you a list of goals that can be fulfilled for The National Standards for Arts Education: National Standards for Visual Art. While I am not worried about this myself, if you wanted to know, it is there for you. After this, you see the original piece of art that you will be basing your art from, along with the history of it. There is a quick review of some basic art knowledge that you learn as you go. And then you relax before you draw.

art classes for kids

My kids thought it was funny to relax before we began, but I noticed this helped to draw their attention and focus to what they were doing. The next tip on the Power Point was to play some quiet music. This should be music without words to help you stay calm and focused on your work. This is when you complete the warm-up. Finally, we get a list of rules for drawing. These six rules, were a homerun for our house! Every problem that I have had when helping my kids learn art was included in these six rules. Hearing someone else tell them this, the kids took a step back and listened.

The video format had a similar start up. They talked about the relaxation and music to use for each lesson. They also included the rules in the video. No talking was the number one rule! The only thing I did not see in the video that I did see on the Power Point version was the standards that were met in this art lesson.

art classes for kids

We loved working through the lesson step by step and having a finished product that was wall worthy! Most of the children preferred the Power Point version, where they didn't have to push the pause button as they were perfecting their lines. We would be able to work through it at our pace and have no worry of feeling rushed. While the video lessons were great, my kids strive too much for perfect and don't like moving at someone else's pace when drawing. I loved having two options and being able to use what we needed instead of being stuck with just one choice.

art lessons for kids

Our overall impression of ArtAchieve is that we love it! The kids love that they can pick which way they want to do the lessons and I love that I don't have to be the teacher, just the supervisor. ArtAchieve offers great art classes for kids and it takes the stress off of me!

Digital Savvy From CompuScholar, INC. ~ A Homeschool Crew Review

Using a computer is a must in the world today. If you don't know how to use a computer, you will be left behind and feeling lost. While I love having the kids away from screens, I know and understand that they need to learn about them as well. Finding the right curriculum to help them learn the basics can be hard, but with Digital Savvy from CompuScholar, Inc. you have all that you need for your child to learn right at your finger-tips.

What It Is

Digital Savvy is a beginner's course in computers and covers the fundamental aspects of the computer. Topics that are covered in this course are:

  • Hardware, software, and operating systems
  • Managing files and folders
  • Basic networking
  • Online safety and computer security
  • Using Word processors, spreadsheets, and presentation programs
  • Creating simple databases
  • Image editing
  • Using social media and email communications
  • Introductory website design
  • Simple computer programming concepts
  • Exploration of computing careers

Each of these is broken down into lessons that will cover one year (two-semesters). Once you open the syllabus, you can see how everything is broken down and you are even given the suggested amount of days to spend on everything.

Each chapter is broken down into simple daily lessons. These lessons include a video lesson, text to go with the video and a quiz to see what you have learned. What is also nice, is that there is a teacher's guide if you log in as the teacher. This includes questions you can ask to see how well your children are retaining what they learn.

At the end of every chapter there is an activity that will check your child's learning. It starts off simple with the peripherals, but will grow from there to things like a domain name search and social media posts. After completing the activity, your child will finish up the chapter with an exam.

Checking the answers on the quiz.

How We Used It

This was a simple assign and go program for Moe Man. I didn't have to prepare for anything and I could just assign him the chapter and lesson each day. Moe Man would sit down each day and work on the lesson at hand or the activity or exam. I didn't need to stand over him, I just had to make sure he did what was needed each day.

After each day, I would go in and check on my teacher side of things to see how he was doing. If I noticed a problem, I would make him redo the lesson with my help, otherwise he was able to complete these on his own.

My view in the teacher page.

What We Thought of It

I won't be stopping this program! I plan to make Moe Man complete Digital Savvy and possibly move on to some of their other more advanced computer classes. This is a course that all children need to know about. CompuScholar, INC. has set it up in a way that works. Moe Man opens it up and gets to work. He doesn't need any extra help from me, other than to make sure he uses it.

The topics that are covered are exactly what I would want him to be learning about. They cover everything for the beginner. There is not too much, but just enough for each topic. I know that after completing this course, Moe Man will be able to use a computer without hesitation, or needing to ask me about something.

CompuSholar, INC. and Digital Savvy is a hit in our house! But this is not the only program they offer. Check out these other reviews and see if there is something there that piques your interest for your homeschool!

Educeri Ready to Teach Lessons ~ A Homeschool Crew Review

When homeschooling, you find a time when you need to supplement your child's learning. This can happen either when they are struggling, or when they want to expand on what they are currently learning. When you have 3, almost 4 kids who are homeschooling, you look for an option that can cover more than one grade and more than one subject to help keep your expenses down. But where do you find something that fits this? We had the chance to review Educeri …….  Educeri a division of DataWORKS and their Educeri Lesson Subscription Service.

Educeri Homeschool Crew Review

What Is It

Educeri Lesson Subscription Service is a magical site that provides our homeschool with over 1,000 lesson plans for you to access. With all of these lesson plans, you cover all grades Kindergarten up to 12th grade in subjects like Math, Science, Language Arts, History, even Art. PE and Music.

Educeri Lesson Subscription Service Reviews

Each one of the lessons is presented in a PowerPoint format. There are student handouts that go with the lessons for your child to fill out while learning, or after you are done presenting the lesson.

How We Used It

I was excited to check out the Lesson Subscription Service. I looked forward to having help with my lesson planning and finding supplements for my children. I spent time looking over everything that was available and checking to see what we could use. I was able to find a lot of the core subjects, especially for the lower grades. This was nice for Ray Ray and Little Miss, but I was hoping for more for Moe Man and his high school subjects, especially the extra electives.

Educeri Kindergarten Options

I found at least one lesson for each one of the children, while it was easy for the little two, I spent some time with looking for Moe Man. I added these into the current curriculum that we were using. I had to set time aside to work with each child, as the lessons required me to help out with the teaching instead of allowing them to self-teach.

Once I had all the small details worked out, I was able to actually teach the lessons. For Moe Man, I spent more time searching. There were limited lessons for this age and these subjects. I was able to find a language arts lesson that we needed to brush up on, so we sat down with Determine a Central Idea and Analyze. This lesson had the PowerPoint for me to teach and an additional Student Handout to have him work on.

I went over the idea with Moe Man in the lesson. I made sure that he understood what we were talking about, and we were able to work on the handout as we worked on the lesson. I actually felt like I was sitting at the front of a classroom teaching this to a room full of students. The lesson gave me everything that I needed to feel this confident, even if it was just one student instead of a full classroom.

I did this same thing with Ray Ray and Little Miss. Once again, teaching the lesson and working with them on their handouts so they would be able to practice what they were learning.

2nd Grade Language Arts

What We Thought

While I was hoping for a lot more independent learning with this program, I actually found myself spending more time teaching it. Yes, it was less planning time as I was able to open and go, but I had to be there teaching it. This is tough when it comes to a homeschool mom of more than one child. I loved the lesson plan options for the lower grades as there was so many, but when I needed something for Moe Man, it was hard.

The kids showed improvement when using these lessons. We enjoyed the break from our normal curriculum and loved the way this was set up. It was easy to teach from and easy for the kids to pick up on.

We were not the only family to check out Educeri and their Lesson Subscription Service. Want to hear some other reviews? Check them out right here!

Essential Skills Advantage ~ A Schoolhouse Crew Review

Playing on the computer is always fun. Finding just the right game to play that mom approves of, that is a different story. Not anymore. Not with Essential Skills Advantage (ESA) and the Complete Home Learning Suite.

Both Little Miss and Ray Ray have had the chance to "play" around on this site, and we are impressed. While they call it their play time on the computer, I call it a way to enforce what we are learning. Either way, it is a win-win in my books.

ESA Review

What Is It

ESA is an online learning tool. Their supplemental curriculum for grades K-6 provide over 14,000 lessons that are available with the Complete Home Learning Suite. Each student has access to everything. You are able to mix and match lessons and levels to make it a unique learning experience for your child. The lessons are broken down into subjects. There is Reading, Language & Grammar, Math, Science and Geography.

Lessons in ESA

Not all subjects are available for all grades, as some require more reading which makes it too hard for the younger grades, but the child does have access in case you wanted to check it out, or have advanced and moved up to that level.

Along with this, you as the parent have access to the grades and completion progress of each child. You are able to hop on at any time and check to see how much they have completed, what they excelled in and what they had trouble with. Having this access leaves you in control of what you want your child to work on more.

Parent Section in ESA

How We Used It

We love ESA. We use this as our free play on the computer. We also like to use this as our fall back school for the days when there is so much going on, yet we need to do something for school that is "schooly". ESA is so simple to use that I don't have to worry about either one of the kids just hoping on and getting themselves logged in. I tell them what subjects they should do, and they go.

Classroom in ESA

We made sure to log in at least 3-4 days a week and the kids would do 1 or more lessons at each log in. Some days would be just the one lesson, they didn't want to do more. Other days, I had to pull them away from the screen telling them they did too much. But really, how can you do too much learning? We would make sure to spend at least 10 minutes on each subject we needed to work on for that day, and being it was game like, this was no problem.

What We Thought

The kids love this program. They love being able to play on the computer without an argument from mom. That means that they can learn without an argument, which mom loves. I personally love that I can pick and choose the grade levels for each subject. Ray Ray is good at reading, but needs help with comprehension questions, so I have him in the 1st grade reading program. However, he is a math genius and is teaching himself faster than his lessons are going, so he is working on the 2nd grade math program.

Games with ESA

When I talk to the kids, there was no doubt that they loved this program as well. Ray Ray told me it was fun and challenging at the same time. "I could do this all day every day mom!" Little Miss loves the games and the way she was learning to read (she got herself into 2nd grade grammar and was rocking it!!), but she did not like the science (that is recommended for Kindergarten, but requires more help from a reader. She is too independent to sit and listen to me read right now!

Altogether, this was a great way to have fun and learn for the kiddos and we loved it! Want to read more reviews, check them out by clicking below!

HelpTeaching.com ~ A Schoolhouse Crew Review

When you start homeschooling, you love looking at the resources available. Once you hit the high school age, those resources are harder to find. However, HelpTeaching.com and their Pro Plan is a wonderful resource for all homeschool ages, especially the high school age.

HelpTeaching.com Review

HelpTeaching.com is an online resource that will provide you and your student (from PreK to 12th grade) with the materials needed to supplement all your current curriculums. You will have access to all the worksheets and tests, both online and printable, as well as lessons the are put together for you. These lessons, worksheets and tests cover almost every subject for almost every grade level.

HelpTeaching.com

Not only are you able to use the premade material that is available on HelpTeaching.com, but you are able to make your own content with your own material. With HelpTeaching.com, you are able to plan what you want your child work on, plan it out and email the assignments to them. This helps in letting them learn responsibility for their own school. I love this for Moe Man now that he is in high school.

With the Pro Plan, you will have unlimited access to the Test Maker, up to 100 questions in your own custom tests and worksheets, use of images with questions, and the ability to save your tests as PDFs. You will be browse and use any of the pre-made premium content as well as the CCSS-aligned content, if you need it. All of this for $24.95 for the year!

HelpTeaching.com Plans

I used this Pro Plan from HelpTeaching.com for Moe Man these last few weeks. We have found the things that worked for us, and those that I loved, but they didn't quite work for him. We found the things that he knew, and what we needed to keep working on. With the lesson plans provided, we were able to work on those skills that were needed without a huge search for something that would work.

Online Lessons with HelpTeaching.com

With Moe Man and his learning, we did not use the online testing as much as I wanted. However, we did use the printable worksheets to the full potential. We were always finding one or making one that would go with the topic we were talking about in lessons. That was a benefit that I had with HelpTeaching.com, I was able to make what I couldn't find, which wasn't much. Or I was even able to mix and match the questions that were already in the data base.

With all of the resources available on HelpTeaching.com, we have been able to use something multiple times a day, every day with our current curriculum. There was no lack of information, or ways to make what you wanted. As much as Moe Man did not want more work, I was able to use these resources and have them make sense with every subject in our day.

I love using HlepTeaching.com with our daily lessons. I have had so much fun myself playing around with the idea of being able to customize the tests and worksheets. I might have spent a little too much time playing with this feature! I loved the online testing, wish it would have worked better with Moe Man, but I can say that this is awesome! Simply adding your student and their email address and you are able to send tests and assignments straight to your child.

If you have a high school student, I would recommend that you check out this wonderful resource! You can find HelpTeaching.com on Facebook, Google+,
Twitter, and Pinterest. Stop by to say hi and give them a like!

Middlebury Interactive Languages ~ A Schoolhouse Crew Review

Middlebury Interactive Languages

What do you do when your first grader wants to learn French? Do you find a high school program and try to adapt it to the needs of a young child? I decided to try Middlebury Interactive Languages and their French Courses, which has an Elementary French 1 program for grades K-2nd.

Middlebury Interactive Languages

What It Is

This program, is a fully online program that teaches the child the language of choice through fun games and activities right from the beginning. For this elementary program, your child will have their main focus on the French vocabulary. But the vocabulary is not the boring study this word until you have it memorized kind of vocabulary.

As soon as Ray Ray logged in, he was finding out that he was going on an adventure in France, and he needed to pay attention! This was easy with the interactive lessons that had him doing activities to learn the vocabulary instead of reading and studying.

The Middlebury Interactive Language program contains all you need to help your child learn the language of their choice. It comes with a calendar that has the lessons planned out for you and a gradebook to see how your child is doing.

How We Used This

I will say right off the bat, we did not follow the calendar. Ray Ray would do 2 or 3 lessons one day and then skip a day or two. He was excited to be able to finally learn French in a way that he understood, by playing a game.

We would use the calendar as our guideline as to what we needed to do each week. Ray Ray would look at it and know what he needed to do. Than I would let him go at it. He was in charge of his learning in this program and he loved it!

If you didn’t want to follow the calendar, there is a table of contents showing all the units. In the French course there are 12 units, each unit consisting of 6 lessons. This gives a wonderful amount of time to focus on each category and practice it before moving on.

Each lesson consisted of different parts. You would start out with a review of what you already learned, keeping this fresh in your mind. Following that, your child would be introduced to the new set of words or phrases. This learning of the new material comes in many parts. The kids have many chances to learn these words and phrases in many different games, activities and stories.

What We Thought About This

Ray Ray has always loved French. He has wanted to learn it, and we have tried many different programs. This is the one program that seems to work for him. I think the interactive immersion is what works. Everything is spoken and written in French, and you have to move to a different screen to see and hear the English.

Having him listen to someone telling him what to do in the language is how we learned to speak our current language as babies, so why wouldn’t it work as children? Being able to check and see if you understood what they were saying makes it the perfect program for him.

“I love it, it is really good actually.” This is what I hear from Ray Ray when I ask him what he thinks about this program. When asked what he likes about the program, “I like almost everything. I really like being able to move my character. Every time I sit down, stuff is new.” And what he doesn’t like about the program, “The thing I don’t really like is trying to record myself, but that is the only thing I don’t like.” Now how can you argue with a 7 year old?
