Thin Stix Creativity Pack – A Homeschool Crew Review

This is a review post. I received this item in exchange for my honest review. Below you will find just that, my honest review.

Creativity is a big thing in our house. I love to let my kids be creative, but sometimes I really don’t like the mess that comes with some creativity, painting especially. We have found that the kids can still be creative and I can avoid the mess with the Thin Stix Creativity Pack from The Pencil Grip, Inc.

We have fallen in love with the Thin Stix and the original Kwik Stix from previous reviews, but the creativity pack is full of so many new colors and styles of colors! I couldn’t wait to have the kids get painting again without me having to clean up paint after!

There are 24 Thin Stix in the Creativity Pack. 12 classic colors, 6 neon colors and 6 metalix colors. These are the Thin Stix, so they remind me of a marker when holding them. They are a solid tempera paint, non-toxic and they don’t need anything extra, other than something to paint on and their creativity.

I kept this review a surprise from the kids. They knew nothing about it until the day they opened it. The excitement was evident as they opened the box! Right away we had paper flying everywhere. They had to paint and they had to paint NOW! The new colors really impressed them, and they had to try them all out. After each sheet was done, they piled them on top of each other to move onto the next one. And they could do this because the paint dries in 90 seconds!

I wanted to keep the creativity going with these paint sticks, so we pulled out wooden picture frames to paint. These paint sticks did the same on the wood as they did on the paper. The colors were still vibrant and they still dried super-fast. This is great when you have an almost 3-year-old painting with the big kids!

With the holidays fast approaching, we wanted to make some decorations for around the house. We had these fun cardboard presents that we bought on clearance last year. It was exciting to see the paint sticks work on the cardboard like they did on the paper and the wood. The only thing we noticed this time was when Little Miss used a little too much paint in one spot, it did take a little longer to dry, but not as long as regular, messy paint. And it didn’t drip or drop all over as it was drying.

We love using our Thin Stix, we find new ways to use them every time we pull them out. Anytime I would pull out paint, I pull these out instead. I love that they are non-toxic, they are easy to handle and even Baby Girl has fun when we pull these out. These are the paints that I don’t need to worry about hiding, the ones that I can trust the kids to use without my supervision. I love that they can be used on anything.

The girls loved the new colors in this pack. They loved the Metalix and how “shiny” they were. They couldn’t decide which ones to use, and wanted to use them all at once. Little Miss took on the responsibility of making sure they were put back, in order, and that each one had a cover on them. She took that job seriously!

We never run out of things to paint with Thin Stix. The creativity is able to be released in a fun, yet clean way that both mom and child will enjoy. If your house has a creative child in it, you need to have these paint sticks in your house!
