X is for eXhale – Blogging Through the Alphabet

Welcome back to one of the last weeks of this series of Blogging Through the Alphabet! Annette from A Net in Time are so glad that you are back to join us as we finish up this series of Blogging Through the Alphabet! This week we are working on the crazy letter X. What in the world does the letter X have to do with homeschooling? Well, you must eXhale every now and again while you are busy with the kids!

I know, exhale does not start with X, but that is the first sound you hear! That counts, right? And when you think of homeschooling after a few years, the first thing you may think is to exhale, especially after a few years with a few kids! Making sure you exhale is one of the main things you need to do when it comes to homeschooling.

Why did I choose exhale? Well, if you have been in my house at in point in the last 6 months, you will see that a good exhale is needed from time to time. Taking the time to exhale will allow you to reset yourself, mind, body and spirit, and get your day back on track.

These last six months have thrown a lot onto my plate. I am a homeschool mom to 3 school age children and one impressive toddler! This alone is an amazing task! Add in the challenge of a major spinal surgery to my husband, and now I have to work on helping him along with the rest of the family. I took my vows of “in sickness and in heath” and plan to keep those, but to do that, I need to exhale!

How do you exhale? Well there are numerous ways. I love to read. I will hide where ever and whenever I can to do some alone mommy reading time. When I can step away from chaos and take a moment to myself, it gives me the time to exhale. I can get lost in a different world for a moment.

Not only do I love to read, but I have started spending more time on the treadmill. This gives me time to take care of me! I need this time to help the rest of the house. Getting my walks in help me to clear my mind for a little bit. I am on the treadmill for a certain amount of time, and during the time, my focus is not on my do-to list, but on making sure I don’t face plant on the treadmill!! The girls love to play downstairs with me while I am doing this and I love setting an example for them!

When I am not on the treadmill, I love to get out of the house. Sometimes we love to go out and go for a walk. The girls talked me into a jogging stroller so I can “run” with Little Miss…I have not had many chances to run yet, but one day I will and it will be fun! If we don’t go for a walk, just sitting outside of the four walls is awesome! It is enough to smell the fresh air and hear the birds to help you exhale!

Finally, my favorite way to exhale is to open my bible! When you are having a bad day, why not find the comfort from the best source. If I am struggling with something, God is there for me. If I have a bad day, God is there for me. I have learned that no matter what, God is always on my side. When I need to exhale, God helps me!

How do you find ways to exhale? Do you have a go-to Bible verse that helps you exhale?

What are your X posts to share this week with us?
